Campsite on Benezie Lake on the Benezie-Becoosin Trail (#2247)

This is a very "rustic" campsite with few amenities. The site seems to get little use. The only tent pad is right next to the fire grate and it is overgrown and covered with leaves. There is limited views of the lake from the kitchen area. The fire pit is near a large boulder (likely a glacial erractic) in a shady area. The latrine can be found at the 'Y' along the trail into the campsite. There is a nice rock outcropping to sit on down by the lakeshore. The other campsite on Benezie Lake is better than this one. However, the campsites on Becoosin Lake are both better than either campsite on Benezie Lake.

A look at the campsites kitchen with the notable "rock" behind it. This is a BYOC (bring your own chair) kind of place.
Compact is the best way to describe this fireplace.
Leaves, sticks and roots make for tough sleeping arrangements. This would be a better campsite for a hammock camper.
It couldn't of 'benezie' for the Forest Service to haul this latrine all the way out here.
