The Portage between Rat Lake and Rose Lake

Portaging Direction: From Rat Lake to Rose Lake

This is the 3 rod portage on the U.S. side of the international border. The landing is better. This is the easier of the two portages. It is connected to BWCA Campsite 647.

And here is the 2 rod portage on the Canadian side of the border. The U.S. portage is 1 rod longer, but has a much better landing on the Rose Lake end of the portage. The Canadian portage is on the other side of the creek from BWCA Campsite 647.

Portaging Direction: From Rose Lake to Rat Lake

The portage is easier on the U.S. side of the border. The is because the landing on the Rose Lake end is much easier.

This is the portage on the Canadian side of the international border between Rose Lake and Rat Lake. It is 2 rods long. The landing on the Rose Lake end of this portage is difficult because it is rocky and has deep water.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: RAT LAKE
