Portaging Direction: From the Vern River upstream to the Vern River

Vern River to Vern River Portage 1Shallow water landing that is well out of the current of the rapids that are nearby. There are a few rocks as you can see here.

Portage is flat and well traveled.

Vern River to Vern River Portage 2The landing at this end has much deeper water. Seems easiest to land/launch canoe from the left side of this area as you face the river.

Portaging Direction: From the Vern River downstream to the Vern River

Vern River to Vern River Portage 3The worst part of this portage is the landing on the upstream end of the trail. A small beaver dam is visible here in the center background at the head of the rapids.

Simple portage with a very wide and flat trail.

Vern River to Vern River Portage 4Some small rocks are the only obstacle here. The water in this little bay is shallow, perhaps ankle deep.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: VERN RIVER
