The Portage between Lake Isabella and the Isabella River

Portaging Direction: From Lake Isabella to the Isabella River

Lake Isabella to Isabella River Portage 1
Can be difficult to reach this landing during low water as there are many underwater rocks. The water at the landing has minimal depth.

Straightforward flat portage. The portage intersects the Powwow Trail at about the halfway point.

Lake Isabella to Isabella River Portage 2
Landing is at this large table rock on the Isabella River. Left side seemed to offer the easiest place to launch/land canoe.

Portaging Direction: From the Isabella River to Lake Isabella

Lake Isabella to Isabella River Portage 3
As you approach the landing, the right side of this table rock may offer the best place to land your watercraft.

This portage is well worn and has little elevation change. About halfway across the portage you'll encounter an intersection where the portage meets the Powwow Trail.

Lake Isabella to Isabella River Portage 4
This is a view of this portage landing during low water. Quite difficult to paddle away from the landing without getting hung up on rocks when the water is at these levels.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: LAKE ISABELLA
